This specialized tool is designed for removing, installing and adjusting front door window glass on selected BMW and Mini vehicles.

Compared to the original design, this version has been equipped with two additional retaining plates that simplify positioning and help prevent slipping from the adjustment gear of the window mechanism.

An integrated square drive at the end of the handle also enables the use of a torque wrench according to manufacturer repair procedures.

Application Instructions

(Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's repair procedures.)

Remove the door trim and window channel strip
Locate the toothed adjustment nut near the front and rear section of the window regulator
Loosen the adjustment nut using the tool from the outside with the window closed
Raise the window so approximately 220 mm extends above the door frame
Remove the window or regulator mounting points
Remove the window glass

The toothed adjustment discs can later be used to precisely align the door glass.

Important: A suction lifter is required during adjustment to maintain the glass position until the adjustment nuts are completely tightened.

Recommended Torque Values

Applicable only when using this tool:

R50 / R52 / R53 = 10 Nm
R55 / R56 / R57 / R58 / R59 = 5 Nm

Recommended Window Adjustment Values

Glass penetration depth into frame seal:

Glass to A-pillar

R50 / R53 = 3.5 mm
R52 Convertible = 4.5 ± 1.5 mm

Glass to roof area

R50 / R53 = 5 mm
R52 Convertible = 6 ± 1 mm

Window Regulator Initialization Procedure

After adjustment, the window regulator mechanism should be initialized:

The reference point is the mechanical stop with closed door and fully raised window
Raise the window and hold the window switch in the up position for approximately 5 seconds
Release the switch
Open the door — the window moves slightly downward
Close the door — the window returns to the fully closed position
