Crankshaft Radial Oil Seal Tool Set for BMW N20, N26, N40, N42, N45, N46, N52, N53, N54 and N55

This comprehensive tool set is designed for replacing the front and transmission-side crankshaft radial oil seals on compatible BMW engines.

The included removal tools allow the old oil seals to be extracted in a controlled manner, while the dedicated installation tools support centred and even fitting of the new seals at the correct depth.

Scope of Delivery

• 3 x oil seal removal tools
• 7 x oil seal installation tools
• 3 x draw nuts
• 7 x tool mounting screws
• 24 x radial oil seal extraction screws

Removal

• Position tool (1) or (2) on the radial shaft seal (A).
• Secure the tool centrally to the radial shaft seal (A) using screws (12) or (13).
• Turn the pull spindle clockwise to extract the radial shaft seal (A) from its seat (B).

Alternatively:

• Position tool (6) on the radial shaft seal (A).
• Secure the tool by turning it clockwise into the radial shaft seal (A).
• Turn the pull spindle clockwise to extract the radial shaft seal (A) from its seat (B).

Installation

• Attach installation spindle (3), (4) or (5), with the radial shaft seal (A) positioned on it, to the crankshaft flange using screws (14).
• Slide installation cup (8) or (9) over the installed spindle. Select the installation cup according to the spindle used—(3), (4) or (5)—and the radial shaft seal (A).
• Secure the installation cup using spindle nut (11).
• Depending on the tool combination used, installation ring (10) may also be required.
• Turn the spindle nut clockwise to press the radial shaft seal (A) into its seat.
