This digital infrared thermometer is designed for safe, fast and non-contact surface temperature measurement of various objects. The device is especially suitable for measuring hot, hazardous or difficult-to-access surfaces where direct contact measurements are impractical.

The thermometer consists of an optical system, temperature sensor, signal amplifier, processing circuit and LCD display. The optical system captures infrared energy emitted by the target object and focuses it onto the sensor. The sensor converts the received energy into an electrical signal which is digitally displayed on the LCD screen.

Field of View

Ensure that the target object is larger than the measuring spot of this device. The smaller the target object, the shorter the measuring distance should be. If accuracy is critical, ensure that the target object is at least twice the size of the measuring spot.

Distance to Measuring Point

When taking a measurement, pay attention to the distance to the measuring point. As the distance (D) to the target surface increases, the measuring spot (S) of the area measured by the device also becomes larger. The distance-to-spot ratio for this device is 12:1. The device is equipped with a laser for precise targeting.

Emissivity

Most organic materials, as well as painted or oxidized surfaces, have an emissivity of 0.95 (preset in the device). Inaccurate readings may result from measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces. To compensate, apply masking tape or matte black paint to the target surface. Measure the tape or painted surface once it has reached the same temperature as the material underneath.
