This special tool secures the serpentine belt tensioner in its fully released position.
The tensioner housing features a dedicated slot into which the retaining tool is inserted. A conventional locking pin or improvised substitute cannot secure this tensioner correctly. The serpentine belt can only be removed once the tensioner has been fully released and securely locked.
The tensioner assembly must also be removed when carrying out work on the timing chain drive.
Important Safety Information
Removing or installing the tensioner while it is still under spring tension can cause injury and damage or destroy the tensioner.
Always release the tensioner completely and secure it with the correct retaining tool before removing the belt or tensioner assembly.
