This special tool is designed for operating the hydraulic serpentine belt tensioner on compatible Mercedes-Benz models.
It allows the tensioner spring to be compressed and released slowly and in a controlled manner during removal or installation of the serpentine belt. The tool is intended for vehicles equipped with air conditioning and/or a start-stop system.
Important Safety Information
Attempting to tension or release the mechanism without the correct special tool can damage the expensive hydraulic damper and creates a high risk of injury.
The tensioning operation must be performed very slowly and take more than 20 seconds. The tensioning spring must be moved fully to its end position.
