This oil pressure tester extension kit is designed to expand the functionality of conventional oil pressure testing equipment by allowing simultaneous connection of the oil pressure switch or oil pressure sensor into the testing circuit.
The kit is specifically developed to simplify diagnostics on modern engines where oil pressure is electronically controlled and monitored by the engine control unit.
The system is perfectly suitable for use with the universal oil pressure tester Item No. 117914, while maintaining compatibility with most commercially available oil pressure testing equipment.
Problem Explanation
Diagnosing oil pressure-related problems can often be difficult and time-consuming for workshops. Oil pressure warning lamps may illuminate only during specific customer driving conditions, while faults such as camshaft adjustment failures caused by insufficient oil pressure can occur intermittently.
Conventional oil pressure testing methods typically require removal of the oil pressure switch in order to connect the pressure gauge.
This creates several limitations:
- Vehicle instrument cluster monitoring is no longer active
- Diagnostic scan tools cannot read oil pressure-related signals correctly
- Electronic oil pressure regulation systems may no longer operate normally
- ECU-controlled pressure strategies may become inactive
- Test results may not accurately reflect real operating conditions
Many modern engines use electronically controlled oil pressure systems that adjust oil pressure according to operating conditions and ECU maps through oil pressure regulation valves.
The engine control unit receives required operating values from oil pressure switches and sensors. If the oil pressure switch is disconnected, diagnostic measurements may produce misleading results.
Solution
The extension kit allows the oil pressure switch or sensor to remain integrated into the testing circuit while measurements are being performed.

Procedure
- Remove the oil pressure switch from the engine.
- Identify the thread type and install the appropriate adapter into the engine.
- Install the oil pressure switch into the corresponding adapter nipple.
Important: Depending on thread type, sealing rings or Teflon tape may be required for proper sealing.
- Install either the extension hose or directly connect the T-piece according to available space.
- Connect the pressure gauge and oil pressure switch.
- Connect the ground cable to the oil pressure switch and, if necessary, to the engine.
- Diagnostic testing can now be performed.
