This crankshaft holding tool is specifically designed for securing the vibration damper during removal and installation of the crankshaft central bolt on VAG 2.0L TFSI EA888 Gen.3 engines equipped with a starter generator.
It ensures proper counterholding of the crankshaft, preventing rotation and potential internal engine damage during high-torque operations.
Compatibility
Suitable for the following engine codes (with starter generator):
CVKB, CVLA, CYMC, CYRB, CYRC, DBPA, DDWA, DEMA, DGKB, DHDA, DKNA, DKYA, DLHB, DLVA, DLVB, DMSA, DMSB, DMTA, DNTA, DPUA, DPVA
Compatible with vibration dampers featuring:
✔ Hole spacing: 70 mm (measured center-to-center, opposite holes)
Note:
For pulleys with 60 mm hole spacing, use alternative tool (like T40378).
Important Usage Information
Correct identification of the installed pulley variant is required, as VAG repair documentation does not always clearly specify the installed version.
VAG specifies the use of tools T40378 or T40379A (Art. No. 123208, also suitable for EA888 Gen.4 TFSI).
If the engine is equipped with a conventional alternator, a different holding tool (Art. No. 104921, like T10355) may be required.
To determine the correct holding tool, the mechanic must measure the hole spacing (center-to-center, opposite holes) on the pulley.
Technical Specifications
✔ Drive: 3/4"
✔ Application: Crankshaft central bolt service
✔ Design: Optimized geometry for improved access and stability
✔ Material: High-strength steel construction
Important Usage Information
Correct identification of the installed pulley variant is required, as VAG does not clearly specify this in all repair documentation.
Before selecting the tool, measure the hole spacing (center-to-center, opposite holes) on the pulley to ensure correct fitment.
Torque Reference (Example Application)
Reference vehicle: Audi A4 (8W) 2.0 TFSI, engine DKYA (2019)
Crankshaft central bolt (with lubricated seal):
