Place the crankshaft turning tool (2) onto the crankshaft pulley bolt.

Rotate the pulley until the TDC mark (A) on the pulley aligns with the mark (B) on the engine block.

Check the camshaft position:
The markings (C) on the camshaft bearing cap and the camshaft gear must be aligned.

Adjusting the camshafts

Remove the camshaft bearing cap (first bearing cap behind the camshaft gear).
Hold the camshaft at profile (D) using a suitable open-end wrench and loosen the camshaft gear bolt.

Rotate the camshaft with the wrench until the recesses of the adjustment tool (1) can be easily positioned over the profile (D) on the camshaft.

Note: Secure the camshaft adjustment tools before disassembling the timing chain drive.
