The Pro Gen. 2 smoke leak detector is a compact and efficient diagnostic solution designed to quickly locate leaks in automotive systems. It provides mechanics with a reliable method to identify leak-related faults across a wide range of vehicle applications.

The second generation has been specifically optimized to work with professional, non-harmful smoke oil as item.no. 122776, ensuring dense and consistent smoke output for improved leak visibility.

Warning

• The device must only be used by properly trained personnel.
• Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn, such as a respirator mask.
• Do not use the smoke generator while the engine is running.
• Replace the oil regularly and do not overfill.
• Do not operate the device continuously for more than 5 minutes. The unit will shut off automatically.
  Allow a short cooling period before restarting.
• Caution: The device may become hot during operation.

Application

1. Fill the device with 20–30 ml of smoke oil (Part No. 122776).
2. Hang the smoke generator in the engine bay using the hook and open the system/line to be tested.
3. Connect the smoke generator hose to the system using a suitable adapter plug (or rubber bulb).
4. Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal and the black clamp to the negative terminal of the vehicle battery.
   The compressor will start immediately and the device is ready for operation.
5. Press the ON/OFF switch. After approximately 30 seconds, sufficient smoke will be generated and the system can be checked for leaks.
   If necessary, use a headlamp to better detect escaping smoke.
   The smoke output can be adjusted using the rotary control.

Tip

• The built-in pressure gauge can also be used to detect pressure drops and identify even very small leaks.
• If the gauge reads 0, the leak is larger than 0.3 mm and must be located visually via escaping smoke.
• The use of a UV leak detection fluid is possible. This allows leak detection using a UV lamp and glasses, even in hard-to-see areas.
  The recommended mixing ratio is approximately 1:100.

Maintenance

• Before refilling with new oil, drain the old oil (remove the cap and invert the device) and dispose of it properly.
• Replace the oil if water droplets are observed coming from the smoke generator hose.
• Change the oil regularly, especially if the device has not been used for an extended period.
