This specially designed installation guide simplifies the fitting of elastic multi-rib belts, also known as stretch-fit or self-tensioning belts, on M200, H4D, H5H, HR10 and HR13DDT engines.

The guide plate prevents the belt from slipping off the water-pump pulley during installation, reducing the risk of belt damage and injury.

Important Information

Installing an elastic multi-rib belt can be difficult even when using the specified manufacturer tools because the belt may jump off the water-pump pulley.

The Stahlmaxx guide plate is bolted directly to the water-pump pulley and holds the belt axially in position until installation is complete.

Application

Loosen two bolts on the water-pump pulley.
Use the integrated 13 mm hexagon on the guide plate for counterholding while loosening and subsequently tightening the bolts.
Position the adapter plate and secure it using the original bolts and washers.
Install the elastic multi-rib belt over the crankshaft pulley using a suitable special tool, such as item no. 115148 or item no. 113839.
After installing the belt, remove the bolts one at a time, remove the guide plate and reinstall the original bolts to the specified torque.

Reference Tightening Torque

Reference application: Mercedes Citan W420 with engine M200.731.

Coolant-pump pulley: 8 Nm

Always verify the tightening torque using the applicable manufacturer repair instructions.
