This specialized timing tool kit is designed for setting and adjusting engine timing on the newer 1.0L Ford EcoBoost II (FOX) engines.
Compared to earlier versions, these engines require modified camshaft alignment tools and a different flywheel locking tool, making this kit essential for professional repair and correct timing setup.
Technical Notes
- Camshaft adjusters are locked in position with the timing chain front cover installed
- Alignment tools are mounted on intake and exhaust camshaft openings
→ secured with 3 bolts each (7 Nm) - Tools also function as holding tools for loosening and tightening camshaft adjusters
→ ensure proper flush fit during use - The crankshaft pulley must be locked:
→ rotate to 12 o’clock position for correct pin alignment
Torque Handling (Crankshaft)
Ford recommends using a torque multiplier (1:5) (e.g. item.no. 121148)
- With multiplier:
→ 60 Nm + 5 × 90° - Without multiplier:
→ approx. 300 Nm + 90°

- Camshaft sprockets:
25 Nm → 70 Nm → loosen 90° → 55 Nm + 35° - Crankshaft central bolt:
25 Nm → 70 Nm → torque multiplier → 60 Nm + 5 × 90° - Chain guides: 10 Nm
- Chain tensioner: 10 Nm
- Cylinder head cover: 5 Nm → 10 Nm → 10 Nm
- Water pump: hold 5 Nm CCW → 5 Nm → 10 Nm
- Oil pan bolts: 5 Nm → 10 Nm (gearbox bolts 5 × 48 Nm)
- Spark plugs: 15 Nm
- Fuel rail: 15 Nm → 23 Nm
- Crankshaft sensor: 10 Nm
- Camshaft position sensor: 10 Nm
- Camshaft adjuster solenoid: 7 Nm

Modern 1.0L Ford EcoBoost engine engines (timing chain-driven FOX engines from model year 2018 onwards) require a modified camshaft alignment tool compared to earlier versions, as well as a different flywheel locking tool for the crankshaft.
This timing tool kit is therefore essential for professional repairs and precise timing adjustment.
Note: Locking the camshaft adjusters in the timing position is achieved with the timing chain front cover installed.
For this purpose, the alignment tools are mounted to the intake and exhaust camshaft openings using 3 bolts each, tightened to 7 Nm.
They also serve as holding tools for loosening and tightening the camshaft adjusters – ensure they are seated flush.
The crankshaft pulley must also be locked; position the bore at the 12 o’clock position for this purpose.
Required tightening torques (if applicable):
- Camshaft sprockets: 25 Nm, then 70 Nm, loosen 90°, then 55 Nm + 35°
- Crankshaft central bolt: 25 Nm, then 70 Nm, then install torque multiplier (Art. No. 118698 or 121148), then 60 Nm + 5 × 90°
- (Equivalent without multiplier: 300 Nm + 90°)
- Chain guides: 10 Nm
- Chain tensioner: 10 Nm
- Cylinder head cover: 5 Nm, then 10 Nm, then another 10 Nm
- Water pump (must be held with 5 Nm counterclockwise): 5 Nm, then 10 Nm
- Oil pan bolts: 5 Nm, then 10 Nm (to transmission: 5 × 48 Nm)
- Spark plugs: 15 Nm
- Fuel rail: 15 Nm, then 23 Nm
- Crankshaft position / speed sensor: 10 Nm
- Camshaft position sensor: 10 Nm
- Camshaft adjuster solenoid: 7 Nm
