Engine Timing Tool Kit for BMW N63, S63, N74 V8 / V12 with Chain Preload Tool

Professional-grade engine timing tool kit designed for precise timing adjustment on BMW N63, S63, and N74 engine platforms. Suitable for BMW, Alpina, Wiesmann, and Rolls-Royce vehicles equipped with these V8 and V12 petrol engines.

The kit includes all required tools for locking camshafts, crankshaft, and preloading the timing chain system. Timing procedure must be carried out separately for each bank, as Bank 1 and Bank 2 are identical in configuration.

Usage Instructions

• Accurate timing verification requires preload tool set to 0.6 Nm using Item No. 106650
• Rotate engine 90° against rotation direction before removing chain tensioner
• Lock tensioner using Item No. 101259 when compressed
• Do not rotate engine without tensioner or preload tool (Item No. 102007)
• Camshaft adjusters must be locked and verified before timing
• Fix crankshaft at 150° before TDC using Item No. 121089 and Item No. 116738
• Apply copper paste to camshaft adjuster bolts seating surfaces

• Upper oil pan: 25 Nm
• Lower oil pan: 27 Nm
• Flywheel / drive plate: 105 Nm
• Crankshaft pulley bolt: 100 Nm + 3 × 60°
• Camshaft sprocket: 30 Nm + 90°
• Camshaft housing: 15 Nm
• Cylinder head cover: 10 Nm
• Intake manifold:
  • M6: 10 Nm
  • M7: 15 Nm
  • M8: 22 Nm

In some engines, the belt pulley is preloaded (elastomer belt). When bolts are loosened, sudden release of tension may occur.
