This comprehensive tool kit is designed for extracting broken glow plug tips from the cylinder head.
The repair can be performed with the cylinder head installed, reducing the time and cost associated with extensive engine disassembly.
Suitable Glow Plug Threads
The set covers the most common glow plug thread dimensions:
- M8×1.0
- M10×1.0
- M10×1.25
Nine different guide adapters ensure that the drills and taps are accurately centred for the corresponding glow plug thread.
Precise Drilling and Extraction
The extra-long drills and taps allow the broken glow plug tip to be drilled and prepared with an internal extraction thread.
Extra-long extraction spindles, ball-bearing extraction adapters and pilot-guided extraction nuts enable the remaining tip to be pulled from the cylinder head in a controlled manner.

Removing a Broken Glow Plug Tip
1. Broken Glow Plug Tip
After removing the glow plug body, the broken glow plug tip may remain inside the cylinder head.
2. Drill the Glow Plug Tip
Select the appropriate drill guide and screw it into the glow plug thread.
Carefully drill a centred hole into the broken glow plug tip using the suitable drill bit.
Important: Mark the required drilling depth on the drill bit beforehand to prevent drilling too deeply.
3. Cut the Thread for the Extraction Spindle
Remove the drill guide and cut the appropriate thread into the previously drilled hole.
This thread is used to screw the extraction spindle securely into the broken glow plug tip.
4. Extract the Glow Plug Tip
Screw the extraction adapter with spindle and nut into the prepared thread.
Hold the adapter securely with an open-end wrench and turn the extraction nut clockwise to gradually pull the broken glow plug tip out of the cylinder head.
Tip: Before starting the extraction process, release the tension on the nut and carefully tap the spindle to help loosen the broken tip.
Important: Before installing the new glow plug, thoroughly clean the glow plug bore and remove all remaining debris and contamination.
