Camshaft Counterhold Adapter for VAG EA211 1.0–1.6 TSI TFSI as T10554

This camshaft counterhold adapter is designed for holding the camshaft and camshaft adjuster during timing adjustment and timing belt replacement on VAG EA211 engines. It is required due to the specific construction of these engines.

Compatibility

Suitable for all EA211 petrol engines with camshaft adjusters in the following displacements:
1.0L, 1.2L, 1.4L, 1.5L, 1.6L TSI / TFSI

Compatible with VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda models equipped with these engines.

Function

The adapter is mounted onto a standard 2-pin counterhold tool and fixed using the included knurled screws. It engages directly into the camshaft adjuster via four mounting points, allowing secure counterholding during service operations.

Its lightweight construction improves handling and reduces operator fatigue.

Technical Notes

The adapter has a specific hole spacing and can only be installed in one correct position.

During timing adjustment or timing belt replacement, it is recommended to initially tighten the camshaft adjuster bolts lightly and perform final torque after verifying alignment and rotating the engine.

Torque Guidelines (Example Reference)

Reference vehicle: Audi A3 1.4 TFSI (2013, engine code CMBA)

Camshaft sprocket (fixed): 50 Nm + 90°
Camshaft adjuster: 50 Nm + 135°
Idler pulley bolt: 45 Nm
Tensioner pulley bolt: 25 Nm

For engines with control valves in the camshaft adjusters (e.g. 1.5L TFSI engine code DPCA), an additional adapter (Art. No. 123189) is required, used as:
T10598

Control valve tightening torque: 140 Nm
