Crankshaft Bearing Cap Removal Tool | For VAG EA825 / EA839 | T40332

This special removal tool is designed for extracting crankshaft bearing caps during engine overhaul procedures. It is essential when removing the crankshaft, ensuring controlled and damage-free disassembly of tightly fitted bearing caps.

Service Requirements

Due to the precision fit of the bearing caps on alignment dowels, removal must be carried out using a dedicated puller tool. Improper removal methods may damage the bearing caps and can result in the need to replace the entire engine block.

Operational Notes

The tool is used in combination with a slide hammer featuring an M8x1.25 thread.

Compatible slide hammer references:

• T10133/3
• T10055

If using an injector tool kit for TFSI/FSI engines, the required slide hammer may already be included.

Important Installation Guidelines

• Bearing caps are secured with both axial and horizontal bolts
• Follow the manufacturer’s tightening sequence and torque specifications
• Improper tightening may result in engine damage

Torque Reference Example (V8 CZSE Engine)

Always follow manufacturer specifications. Example procedure:

Main bearing cap bolts (horizontal):

• Hand tighten all bolts to seat
• Tighten to 30 Nm
• Then 50 Nm
• Then angle tighten 90°

Sequence order:

• 2nd bearing cap (timing chain side)
• 3rd bearing cap
• 1st bearing cap
• 4th bearing cap (flywheel side)

Side bolts:

• Tighten to 20 Nm
• Then angle tighten 90°

Additional Notes

For the crankshaft “TDC” bore plug, two versions exist:

• Version A: Clean and install with new O-ring, tighten to 25 Nm
• Version B: Replace after removal, tighten to 40 Nm
