This professional engine timing tool set is designed for accurately setting and locking the engine timing on first-generation Ford 1.0L and 1.1L 3-cylinder EcoBoost, ECOnetic and SCTi engines equipped with an oil-bath timing belt.
It enables safe and precise timing belt replacement, engine repair and timing adjustment according to the manufacturer's service procedures.
The camshaft locking tools are welded using a dedicated precision alignment fixture, ensuring accurate and parallel positioning on the camshaft setting surfaces. An additional clearance cut-out allows the locking tool to be installed without removing the turbocharger oil supply line, improving accessibility during service.
Important Notes
These engines use an oil-bath timing belt. During servicing, the timing belt should always be carefully inspected for wear, deterioration and fibre separation. Detached belt material can clog the oil pump pickup, which can lead to severe engine damage.
Some engines are not factory-equipped with a friction washer beneath the crankshaft vibration damper. To ensure the specified tightening torque is achieved, a new friction washer should be installed where required.
The crankshaft pulley incorporates a magnetic encoder ring for the crankshaft position sensor. Do not place the pulley on ferrous or magnetic surfaces, as this may affect the encoder ring.
For engines equipped with VCT camshaft adjustment, the camshaft adjusters must be moved to the zero position and locked before loosening or tightening the crankshaft vibration damper.
Ford recommends using a 1:5 torque multiplier (Item No. 121148) during crankshaft pulley installation.
Reference Tightening Torques
Reference values based on the Ford Fiesta Mk6 1.0L engine (engine code YYJA). Always follow the manufacturer's official repair specifications.
- Crankshaft pulley:
- 25 Nm
- 70 Nm
- Remove locking pin
- Install torque multiplier
- 60 Nm + 5 × 90°
- Using a 1:5 torque multiplier: 300 Nm + 90°
- Camshaft sprockets:
- 30 Nm
- 50 Nm
- 95 Nm + 45°
- Timing belt tensioner: 26 Nm
- Cylinder head cover: 10 Nm
- Crankshaft TDC locking plug: 20 Nm
