Glow Plug Removal Tool Kit, M9×1.0, 9-Piece

This nine-piece tool kit is designed for removing damaged or broken M9×1.0 glow plugs, including applications in selected Fiat models.

The set contains the drilling, threading and extraction tools required to prepare and remove the remaining glow plug body.

Removing a Broken Electrical Terminal

If the glow plug drive hexagon has broken off, select the appropriate twist-off socket and position it over the electrical terminal.

Turn the socket counterclockwise using a ratchet until the electrical terminal breaks away from the glow plug. The remaining glow plug body can then be processed as described below.

Drilling the Broken Glow Plug

Use the special step drill to drill the broken glow plug. Before drilling, adjust the depth stop by comparing the tool with a new glow plug of the same type.

The correctly adjusted depth stop limits the drilling depth and helps prevent the drill from being inserted too far.

Preparing the Threads

Use the 1/4"-20 UNC tap to create the mounting thread for the extraction spindle.

The M9×1.0 tap is used to recut and clean the original glow plug thread. Remove all drilling and tapping chips with a suitable compressed-air blow gun before proceeding.

Extracting the Glow Plug

Position the extraction assembly and tighten the spindle nut, ensuring that the clamping jaws are seated correctly.

Continue tightening the spindle nut to pull the damaged glow plug out of the cylinder head in a controlled manner.
