This kit is designed for repairing damaged M9 × 1.0 glow plug mounting threads in the cylinder head.
Slightly damaged original threads can be restored using the included thread chaser.
If the original thread is severely damaged, the bore can be reamed and tapped to accommodate one of the supplied thread inserts.
Instructions for Use
For Slightly Damaged Threads
Re-cut and restore the original M9 × 1.0 thread using the appropriate thread chaser.
For Severely Damaged Threads
- Ream out the damaged original thread using the supplied reamer.
- Use the appropriate tap to create a new M11 × 1.0 internal thread for the thread insert.
- Slide the installation sleeve onto the corresponding installation bolt and screw on a thread insert.
- Use the installation tool to screw the thread insert into the newly cut internal thread and tighten it lightly.
- Remove the installation bolt and sleeve.
Important Note
We recommend securing the thread insert in the newly cut internal thread with a suitable thread-locking compound. This helps prevent the insert from unscrewing when the glow plug is removed later.

1 × Reamer for enlarging the original thread
1 × Tap for creating the thread for the repair insert
1 × Thread chaser for restoring the original glow plug thread
1 × Installation tool for fitting the thread inserts
5 × Thread inserts, 11 mm long, with M9 × 1.0 internal thread and M11 × 1.0 external thread
