Opel High-Pressure Pump Holding Tool

This holding tool is designed for Opel and Saab engines to lock the drive gear of the fuel/injection pump during removal. It allows the pump to be removed without disassembling the timing belt or altering valve timing.

Vehicle Compatibility

Suitable for the following vehicles with 2.0L Biturbo CDTI (143KW/194HP) from 2009 onward:

• Opel Astra J

• Opel Cascada

• Opel Insignia

• Opel Zafira C

• Saab 9-5 (140KW)

Recommendation

To remove the timing belt pulley, a 2-arm puller with flat ends is recommended, such as 999168 (VAG T40001). Unlike the workshop manual, it is recommended to set the engine to top dead center, as the timing belt is only loosened, not fully removed. This facilitates checking valve timing after the repair. It is also recommended to mark the timing belt position relative to the drive gear.

Usage / Installation

1. Expose the fuel pump and remove the upper timing belt cover.

2. Install the holding tool, align it, and secure it.

3. Loosen the central screw and remove the drive gear – mark the pump position relative to the housing (tongue and groove).

4. The pump can now be removed – the holding tool remains installed.

5. During installation, ensure the holding tool grips the drive gear properly – check the marks, tongue, and groove, and tighten the central screw to 50 Nm (follow manufacturer instructions).
