High Pressure Fuel Pump Tool for Toyota 2.4 & 2.8 Engines

Special Tool for Safe High-Pressure Pump Removal

This professional special tool allows safe removal and installation of the high-pressure injection pump on Toyota 2.4D and 2.8D diesel engines without disturbing engine timing.

The tool’s specially designed profile locks the pump sprocket in position while the central bolt is loosened, preventing unwanted chain movement and maintaining correct timing alignment during service.

Prevents Timing Misalignment

During removal of the high-pressure fuel pump, the timing chain sprocket can easily shift position when the central nut is loosened. This tool prevents that movement, ensuring that the engine timing remains correctly aligned throughout the procedure.

This makes the tool essential when servicing modern Toyota diesel engines equipped with timing chains.

Recommended Procedure

1. The engine can be held in position using a universal counter-holding tool on the crankshaft pulley.

2. The high-pressure pump must be removed and installed at Top Dead Center (TDC) using the marking on the crankshaft vibration damper.

3. Loosen the central nut on the high-pressure pump by no more than one turn, then install the special tool so the nut engages and the tool sits flush.

4. Secure the tool using the three mounting bolts (10 Nm).

5. Loosen the pump mounting bolts almost completely. Rotate the special tool counter-clockwise, using the sprocket nut to press the pump backwards.

6. After the pump is released successfully, remove it from the engine.

7. The tool must remain installed until the pump is reinstalled, otherwise the timing alignment may shift.

8. When reinstalling the pump, place it on the studs and rotate the tool clockwise to reinstall the pump.

9. Tighten the high-pressure pump nuts to 21 Nm.

10. Finally tighten the pump central bolt to 137 Nm.
