Timing Chain Holder Tool – Mercedes M266 (W169 W245) – as W266589004000

This tool is designed to hold the timing chain engaged on the camshaft sprocket during timing chain replacement on Mercedes M266 engines.

It is used when pulling through and riveting the timing chain, ensuring the chain remains correctly engaged with the sprockets and preventing timing shift or valve contact.

Application Notes

During timing chain replacement, the old chain is cut and the new chain is pulled through. The chain must remain engaged with the timing gears during this process.

This tool prevents chain disengagement, which could lead to incorrect timing or valve damage.

The procedure can be performed without removing the front cover or pulleys. Only spark plugs and valve cover need to be removed.

Tool Design

Unlike the OE plastic version, this tool is manufactured from aluminium, providing increased strength and durability under load.

A timing chain riveting tool is required for this operation.
