Timing Chain Holder Tool – Mercedes OM639 OM640 – as W640589014000

This tool is used for holding the timing chain on the camshaft sprocket during installation, riveting, and replacement procedures.

It ensures the chain remains engaged with the sprocket during pull-through, preventing misalignment of timing.

Engine Design Note

On these engines, the timing chain drives only one camshaft. The second camshaft is driven via a gear mechanism.
