Rear Crankshaft Seal Installation Tool for VAG and Ford 2.0L Diesel, as T10624, 303-1776

Special tool for installing the transmission-side crankshaft seal with an integrated sensor wheel and low-friction sealing system on selected 2.0L diesel engines from 2019 onward.

Modern 2.0L TDI engines of the EA288 EVO generation, which are also installed in certain Ford vehicles, use special low-friction crankshaft seals. These seals require a dedicated installation tool to ensure correct positioning without damaging the sealing system or sensor wheel.

This tool is intended exclusively for the seal flange version with an internal white support ring.

Important Seal Flange Variants

The repair instructions may list both available seal flange variants. The mechanic must identify the correct version by checking the original comparison number and the colour of the internal support ring.

• White support ring: use this tool as VAG T10624 or Ford 303-1776
• Blue support ring: use Item no. 115502, as VAG T50010

The white support ring holds the sealing lip expanded during storage and installation. It must only be removed after the seal flange has been fully installed.

Checking the Installation Position

After installation, use a digital caliper to measure the distance between the sensor wheel and the crankshaft flange at four positions, each offset by 90°.

The difference between the largest and smallest measured value must not exceed 0.2 mm. If the deviation is greater, the seal is not seated correctly and a new seal must be installed.

Adaptation with a suitable diagnostic tester is recommended. After completing the adaptation, the XK1 code on the timing belt cover should be made illegible.
