Timing Chain Installation & Pulling Tool – Mercedes M111 – as W111589196100

This tool is used for installing and pulling through the timing chain on Mercedes M111 4-cylinder petrol engines.

It holds the timing chain in position during replacement and riveting, preventing chain skipping and uncontrolled camshaft movement during the separation process.

Tool Design

The tool includes four integrated threaded holes for storing the mounting bolts.

Application Procedure

(Reference: Mercedes C-Class CL203 C180 – M111.951)

Remove valve cover and spark plugs.
Set engine position to 20° after top dead center.
Lock intake and exhaust camshafts using locking pins item.no. 112470 to prevent camshaft movement.
Remove timing chain tensioner.
Install the holding tool.
Cut the timing chain, pull through the new chain (remove camshaft locking pins during pull-through), and rivet.

Torque Specifications

Pressing force during chain riveting: 30–35 Nm
Chain tensioner end piece: 40 Nm
Chain tensioner housing: 80 Nm
Valve cover bolts: 10 Nm
