This comprehensive timing tool kit is designed for Opel 1.3L and 1.4L turbo petrol engines (L3T, F14SHT, F14SHL).

The set includes all essential tools required for disassembly, assembly and timing adjustment of:

Important Technical Notes

Torque Multiplier Requirement

For removal of the crankshaft pulley bolt, a torque multiplier is required.
Torque specifications must be adjusted according to the gear ratio 1:5.


Camshaft Adjuster Preload

Camshaft adjuster control valves must be preloaded with:

  • 6 Nm counterclockwise (left-hand direction)

Use of a friction torque gauge is recommended (item.no. 118535).


General Notes

  • Timing chain is removed upward together with camshaft adjusters
  • Camshaft adjuster control valves are NOT interchangeable

Timing Adjustment Procedure

Crankshaft

  • The spring-loaded flywheel locking pin fixes the crankshaft at 118.14° after TDC
  • With the tool installed, the crankshaft must not rotate
  • During loosening/tightening operations, the locking pin should be removed
    → Only the locking tooth should absorb torque loads

Camshaft

  • Camshaft markings:
    • “E” (exhaust) and “I” (intake) must align
    • Position approx. 1 o’clock / 11 o’clock
  • Single notches behind the first camshaft bearing must be at 12 o’clock
  • Camshaft locking tool (item.no. 122927, use as EN-52484) is inserted into these notches
  • Camshafts may need slight rotation using a wrench

Before tightening camshaft control valves:

  • Adapters must be preloaded with 6 Nm counterclockwise
  • Then fixed using the clamping screws

Balance Shaft

  • Base position is approx. 8 o’clock (flat side orientation)

High-Pressure Fuel Pump

  • Must be removed for valve cover disassembly
  • Before installation, correct stroke must be checked using tool (item.no. 122923)

Procedure:

  • Insert alignment tool with “2” marking facing upward
  • Rotate crankshaft if necessary until cam lobe is in base circle position
  • In this position, the tool aligns with the cylinder head

Crankshaft Seal

  • Located in the front timing cover
  • Installed using mounting sleeve

Guide pins (item.no. 122926, use as EN-582483) are included for:

  • Timing cover
  • Crankshaft
  • Oil pan

Procedure is identical for transmission-side seal.


Torque Specifications (Reference)

(Example: Opel Astra K 1.4T F14SHT)

  • Crankshaft pulley bolt: 150 Nm + 140°
  • Camshaft sprockets: 30 Nm + 45°
  • Camshaft adapter preload: 6 Nm (left-hand)
  • Chain guides and tensioner: 15 Nm
  • Balance shaft gears: 36 Nm
  • Camshaft control valve plugs: 58 Nm
  • Camshaft bearing caps: 5 Nm → 10 Nm
  • Valve cover: 4 Nm → 9 Nm
