Specialized tool for locking the flywheel and setting top dead center (TDC) during timing procedures on Opel engine families F12, F14, F15, D15 and F20.
Function
The tool performs two essential functions:
- A sliding locking mechanism secures the flywheel, preventing crankshaft rotation
- A spring-loaded TDC pin automatically engages in the flywheel to precisely position the crankshaft at top dead center
Installation & Operation
To install the tool, the starter motor must be removed. During engine rotation, the TDC pin automatically locks into the designated bore in the flywheel.
Top dead center (TDC) is reached when the timing marks on the camshafts (front side) are positioned at the top.
Important Note
The flywheel locking pin is NOT designed to counter-hold high tightening torque of the crankshaft pulley central bolt.
It may only be used for pre-tightening to ensure correct seating between the sprocket and vibration damper. Final tightening must be performed with the flywheel disengaged.
